The origins of Wing Chun are the stuff of legend...
Allegedly devised by a buddhist nun, Ng Mui, this unique system was created from her observations of a fight between a snake and a crane.
A local beauty called Yim Wing Chun was her most noteable student, and it is after this lady that the system is named.
For many years, Wing Chun was taught secretly in Southern China, and were it not for one man, it would probably still be an obscure, little - known Kung fu system.
However, Grandmaster Yip Man changed all that when he began openly teaching Wing Chun in Hong Kong, around 1950. One of the more famous students who learned Wing Chun at his school was the actor Bruce Lee.
From humble beginnings, WIng Chun is now one of the most popular systems of Kung Fu in the world, with many practitioners globally.
